Joanna Morrissey
Joanna Morrissey, MSS, LSW is a licensed social worker who received her MSS from Bryn Mawr College and her BS from Georgetown University. Joanna has provided individual and group psychotherapy, education and/or guidance to adolescents and young adults in multiple academic and outpatient settings. She has completed post-graduate training in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and therapeutic interventions targeted at clients who have experienced trauma. Joanna uses a supportive, collaborative, insight-oriented approach to help clients uncover hidden strengths, find clarity and act with wisdom. She works with individuals and families struggling with anxiety, social difficulties, attention deficit and hyperactivity, depression and body image/eating disorders. Before working in private practice, she provided counseling for children, adults and families with a variety of medical conditions and nutritional considerations. Emily has led nutrition education programs for children and conducted research at New York University on the dieting habits of young females and children with autism. She is devoted to promoting optimal health through a balanced lifestyle based on good eating habits, physical activity and a positive relationship with food. Laurel Newman, MS, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist licensed by the State of Pennsylvania to provide direct speech-language services. Her emphasis has been the diagnosis and treatment of speech and language disorders in developmentally delayed pre-school and school-aged children. She currently sees private clients in the Main Line area of Philadelphia. She has previously provided speech-language services under contract to the Center for Autistic Chidren in Philadelphia. She had a private practice in Los Angeles and was a fellow at the Neuropsychiatric Institute of UCLA working as part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of children with previously unspecified developmental disabilities. NewBorn Concepts has been helping new families since 1995. Our caring team of childbirth educators, lactation consultants and class instructors offer a wide range of services for new parents. We offer lactation consultations (home and office), HypnoBirthing classes, Infant Massage, Baby Sign Language and other classes.
